Interesting idea.

WhiteFeather seems to thing that it would cause too much lag, but does that mean that a foggy map induces more lag than a clear?

No, Druid. WhiteFeather's comment is based on the way your side of the game handles the complex spread fire weapons.

I know your computer is pretty powerful, but a lot of the people playing MW are on bare minimum computers that have a problem even if there's someone in a server with a 17 MG Daisy because so much information has to be handled for each round of the MG that is fired.

Longtoms cause a lot of lag for these people. Cluster Arrows as well, and especially the cluster bombs of yesteryear.

A smoke grenade would cause large amounts of lag because it would have to be rendered in a complex fasion and with the way that Direct3d handles that, and more importantly how it handles that when combined with the poor DirectPlay engine, it takes a lot of CPU time to accomplish.

I wouldn't have a problem with the weapon, but I can see where a LOT of people would.

BAWK

bawk

that could be the answer to the brawler as teams always seem to sit in there spawn after getting a kill ahead, if we could smoke them then rush them they wont sit there for long :dancing:

This idea could only be feasible IF the game allows that kind of render on the side that Mektek has to work from because of stupid MS and if it's a very low ammo weapon. You don't want someone peppering the field with them because of the lag they would cause.

Lol i remember the Cluster Bombs in BK, they looked awesome but the lag was insane.

They where the ultimate lag weapon and many teams would use them in conjuction with light mechs to make their lights vertually indistructable (I wont mention any Clans who used to do this but a big Bawk goes out to Beo :P)

I know in CS, smoke grenades cause a massive amount of lag. Especially went multiple smoke grenades go off. I can see it being something alot of mech servers banning.

thats why AA is better no lag when a smoke nade is thrown!

No lag in BattleField.

If you haven't revisited this thread, you should.

Jeho has some preliminary pics of a smoke grenade cloud from a launcher up.

It looks promising, but there is a lot to come.
