I heard that Mek Tek was down but Drew said it's back up.
I've tried to start my game but when I get to the main menu, whether I click on Multiplayer or campain or any other options it just freezes up. I have to shut it down using end process, in control alt delete. I tried replacing my dll w/o any effect. Anyone have any Ideas what happened or how it might be fixed.
Could Mek Tek still be off-line and causing this, I'm in the dark......

Had that problem and it boiled down to a campaign map issue. I had 2 installs of mercs and copied over the campaign map files. If you don't have a spare install of the game, I don't know how to resolve this. Sorry man.

Crest, make sure you are replacing the file in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Mechwarrior Mercenaries
No in:
C:\Program Files\mektek.net\Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak
Same thing happened to me. I replaced the file and it worked again.

Yea, just tried replacing it with a fresh .DLL from MWL in my C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Mechwarrior Mercenaries, and no change. If I disconnect my internet, I can get to the main menu, but if I click on any option it freezes.

Got my regular game working again...yay.
I also d/l'd the new MW4, the game boots up ok, but it seems I'm missing an update. The MTX system tried to d/l one but it errored. Is there some way to d/l it on my own? and/or is there some way to kick that MTX thing in the butt to make it try again? Also, can I save this file to an external harddrive and reinstall it onmy own if I need to redo it at some time, or am I now a slave to a 6 hour d/l and blind installation.

Ya, tried redownloading it and the MTX keeps going and going and going......
I think McAfee is having trouble with this new game too. My subsription ends in a month, so I'm going to get a new antivirus, any suggestions?
I've had Norton before, and won't be going back to them, I was thinking about housecall, but I'd really like to find one tried and true.

Someone fingered mektek files as a trojon to norton so guess what. McAfee is looking alot better since the last update. I blasted them for not letting mercs play. No response. But it got fixed. They released a hot fix for .20 yesterday I think. (I have backed off messing with the MTX stuff. LOST half my icons when I was messing with another program that loads .exe files)
On the anti virus stuff I just keeep McAfee and turn it off when updating.

Dun, how do you completely turn it off. I turned off real time scanning and the firewall and it still quarantined one of the main up date files...grrr

Good news, MekTek has just released a non-MTX installer. However, it still uses the .mtx files, so you will have to get all 3 MTX files. Here is the link to the installer: http://mtxgear.mektek.net/mtx/beta/SetupMTXExtract.exe
You can get all 3 .mtx files from the Chikens only download repository that Dru posted.

Double click McAfee shield is sys tray.
Click on virus and spyware protection.
Click on real time scanning.
Turn off while installing MTX stuff or messing with the Mercs files.
Turn back on when you get done.

That was a bust. I d/l'd the extractor and followed the read me files, as far as finding the file to extract and such. Then I happily hit the start button, the extractor came up and said it was extracting the files. Four hours later there was still no change so out of curiosity, I hit the button again and got another message that it was again extracting the files. I think I've wasted enough time on this. If MWL changes over I'll try again to figure it out. Till then I'm done.

Norton and McAfee are calling some files trojans and in some cases there have been some data lose. I lost my icons on my desktop early in the week.

well change the av prog those 2 are the worst out there anyway
Try out Avast, it's free and has kept me protected for over three years. No trouble with mech either.

Avast seems to be a resource hog. AVG (free) works well for me.
My antivirus can beat up your antivirus! :P
:D
Blast and darn, I can't get my mw4 to join a server.
Not even with all the firewalls off, no stupid blocking software, AND my computer set to the dmz... and I'm fairly certain that I'm not double natted!
...
grrrrrrrrrrr
