Course I got a virus in the middle of finals. Lost many hours of projects and final exam reference work, but did that bother me...no.
I just got to work and stayed up xtra long for a couple of days and reloaded most of everything.
Mech is reloaded (w/o my hud) and seems to be working.

I do notice that sites seem to load very slow, Gonna call road runner when I get the chance on that.
Also, I've got comms up and running but I can't get my mic to work. Speakers and headphones are working fine.

I know enough about computers to usually get me by, when things don't go as planned I'm a chick (small bird) lost in the woods.

I've got a Dell (yuk) Dimension 8300
Sound Card is a SoundBlaster Live! with 5.1 support 2R651

I see that I can't find the 20db boost button that I used to toggle to make myself heard and that leads me to beleive that maybe I needed to go to Dell (yuk) and d/l another driver. I found one that matched and tryed it. still nothing.
But I still haven't found that 20db button, and honestly I thought it was at the bottom of the main sound panel. The mic isn't there though either, it's like all of a sudden it doesn't know it was made to handle a mic.
I've tryed changing mics and checking cords with no luck. Well the speakers work, that's a plus, I could hear Dun the other night but he couldn't hear me.

Any pointing to the proper drivers an/or help to get this fixed would be extremely appreciated. Signed wa

Maybe this is it, at least in XP....

In the system tray, down on the right by the time and whatnot, find and double click on the little speaker icon (it says "Volume" when hovered over, in XP) and that should bring up the vloume control window. From there select Options, then Properties, and then click the radio button next to recording (after doing so be sure that your microphone or recording device is listed in the box below and checked) then ckick OK. Now there one of the selections back on the main window should be "Microphone" (or whatever your input device is) with an "Advanced" box at the bottom. Click on advanced and make sure that "Microphone Boost" is checked. Then close out all of it and you should have the 200db boost working, I think...

Hey it was there. It was muted too. I still can't hear myself through the speakers (that's a bad sign), But I think I'm closer than before, Thanks mate.
