OK, some of you will probably slap me, but I LOVE this game!

I have never played such a HUGE game. For $20 it was well worth it, since I have already played atleast 20 hours.

The original MOO was a turn based space sim, set on a galactic scale. MOO2 was popular, but MOO3 got poor reviews. They patched it, improving a large number of balancing issues, and AI quirks. Now IMHO I think it is a great game.

It is not a fast paced game, if you like Civilization series you may find this enjoyable.

The vast scale of the game, w/ 16 original races I think, the capability to colonize and control many planets in many systems.

Getting started is difficult and frustrating, I have only played the Easy setting and still get into some trouble.

BAWK!

BAWK!

I played this game as well, and I must say I liked it. But boy does it take time play even a single game.

Galactic civilisation I find better IMHO, but again this game also takes weeks to finish a single game, lol.

I played 1 & 2 way too much so I doubt I will touch 3. Nothing like disappearing from online for a couple months and having my wife yell at me every night at 2am to come to bed :D

$20? hmmmm....

No I better not... :D

I thought the planet management system was simply bizarre. Maybe I just need to put a few more hours into it, but man, I just didn't dig it at all and I loved the first two.

Guerilla, have you played the other two? I still Play Moo II sometimes, although I've gotten to the point where I can pick up Antaran Tech while the other guys are just getting ion cannons.

I have played the first and the third only, have yet to try out the second, though I hear it is better than both.

Quite good. Suffers from many of the problems that other games of its ilk do in that managing your holdings gets a bit tedious once you've expanded in a big way, but planetary management is gobs more straightforward than it is in M003. It's more of an old school Civ building system. Not too surprising as the game obviously borrows a lot from Civ. The cool stuff is that you design your own races and ships etc. My dream game would be an amalgamation of MOO 2 and HW. Imagine modding out HW ships with new turrets and continuously upgrading them through research.
