<S> Chickens

Hey guys we are hoping you can help us with and annoying problem that has arisen from the patch in HW2.

You all are probably aware of the alteration to the kick feature that was introducted with the patch (everyone in the game gets the chance to kick if a player lags). This feature has resulted in alot of people getting booted out of games (particuarly when winning). There seemed to be some confusion over how people are kicked, some thought it was a voted feature. We labbed it to find out for certain;

Kick Feature Lab Results

In 3 trails we sucessfully found that it only takes one person to kick anyone out of the game.

I was the host therefore it was decided i not kick as being the host it may have a prioity kick function (who knows?)

Test 1
5 Players, Hater was the only one to kick me and i was kicked.

Test 2
4 Players, Had trouble producing lag for this one, it seems if the lag box appears for only a few seconds then goes real quik you can't be kicked. Wrath managed to create a longer pause of lag Hater kicked him and he was out

Test 3
6 Players, Cryptite on a 56k and running voice comms to increase the lag. Only Hater out of all of us kicked him and he was again kicked.

So there is no voting system involved in kicking a player from a game, this feature will have a nasty baring on some HW2 games as we are certainly already finding out. Further more in test 1 i got kicked out of my own game, WTF is that all about????

THIS SUX!

Uberjumper has stated that he thinks it unlikly that there will be a second patch but surly this is only a minor fix, if you can join us by emailing Sierra http://www.sierra.com/support.do and asking them to fix this issue (for all the good this may do us, but if we dont try we dont get)

Thanks Guys!

Anyhow nice post and Im bqack on HW2 again after working out why the patch didnt install. For anyone else who ever gets this problem its the reg. Uninstall HW2 completly and if you llok in the req HW2 is still in there for some reason. I dont think its relic fault this one but microsofts as the patch does try to remove it. Anyhow after that reinstall and reinstall the patch and Woot your in.

BAWK,

Thanx total for this information, it helps me a lot to know I still can safly use the ignore option as there is no voting going on. I used to use this option, but because of these 'not so random' kicks and the assumption an ignore might be considdered 'agree with', I stopped using it. Sure enaugh, I got slammed with dialogs, and even kicked myself a few times (I usualy host).

I even participated in a game that after first contact (with an hour preparation leading to it) my teammate BasTChiken was kicked. Then when SnakeChiken and I continuedand where winning the first engagements, I got kicked as well.

It's sad to know bugs like these got introduced in the patch. Even more sad is that there are people willing to exploit these and then keep silent about it, just as not to loose a match.

Again thanks for the info, and I will try to limit my fights to known good sports and/or smaller maps.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience but there is a patch in the
works as we speak. We are aware of the problem and we apologize for the
frustration.

Thanks.

It is possible that that is a generic response created for our many complaints before this previous patch.

I am going to stick with that assesment until I see otherwise from Sierra/Relic/VU

BAWK!!!!

I'd be very surprised if there's already a patch in the works, purely based on how slowly Sierra reacted to the game's initial bugs. However, I think if enough people complain about this it's quite possible that a small scale fix could be made - after all, it's only disabling a feature that was added in the patch.

Wow. Relic guys really screwed the pooch on that little oopsie. As much as I like what they do, I don't understand why they felt it necessary to add a feature nobody asked for and to lummox it up like that... ouchie.

I'll send my e-mail signed as a former Game Informer Magazine editor. Maybe that'll grab their attention. All this HW2 stuff would make an interesting news article and January/February are typically slow news months for the industry.
