BAWK!

Is it feasible to run a FPS game through a KVM switch without video lag?

If so, any suggestions? I just tried an Avocent SwitchView 130, but could not get the video to work (even after an hour on the phone w/ techsupp). My USB mouse and KB worked fine through the switch. So I returned it and now thinking of trying one more time with a different brand. My monitor has a DVI-D Dual Link connector. The Avocent switch used DVI-I connectors, so I'm wondering if that was the video issue - it shouldn't, but I'm at a loss for the reason.

I used to play Mechy, RA2, and Rogue Squadron through a KVM switch, so I know the frame rate isn't an issue. The length of the video cable, and the resulting signal loss is the issue. The only KVM switch manufacturer I've used so far is Linksys, and they were15 pin VGA connectors.

Same problem, went through 2, a Belkin, and an:

Addlogix DVI KVM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817381003)
I liked this one because it had fire-wire, but the 2.0 USB wasn't in the firmware at the time I decommissioned it and ended up with this:

MINIVIEW DVI KVMP Switch 1782n (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572468-REG/Iogear_GCS1782_Miniview_DVI_KVM_Switch.html)
This is what I have now. 2.0, but no fire-wire. But 5.1 audio support on both boxes. And since I have SLI on gaming Rig, and 3 monitors (1-22" LG center [KVM Switched], and 2-19" SAMSUNGs on sides) My multiple monitor situation allows me to monitor the 2 flank screens that run off their computer, while the center is active to it's KVM selected computer.

When I need to edit video, or splash all 3 screens for the gaming (SLI) rig, I disable SLI in the nVidia "nView" control panel on the center (or KVM switched computer).

This allows me to fore-go the DUAL DVI KVM's

BAWK!

Thanks for the info.

I found a product from StarTech that has DVI-D Single Link connectors (which match the cabling I use). I expect it to arrive tomorrow and hopefully all will work as expected.
