AA3 known issues
http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=297382
It seems that the infrastructure for AA3, namely the authentication server (similar to the EA Master Server in BF2142) is having performance issues.
The training is MUCH harder than it used to be, AND you have NO IDEA what your goal is or when you are in training how well you are doing in your progress. Example: In the marksmanship training, there is no longer an indicator telling you how many targets you have hit vs the number of targets that popped up. Another gripe of mine is the fact that the obsticle course qualification time is not anywhere you can easily see and leads to my last gripe. The run function doesn't work all the time. I have had to double tap the "W" key 10 times once before the damn thing would run.
All in all, what you can do right now is perform the offline training until they fix the authentication server. I don't know if the run issue is my computer/keyboard or if it's a bug, but is's annoying enough to cause more than a little frustration.

There ya go Glad. You gotta use their "Deploy" client to download it or use Steam. Since I already had Steam, I used that.

I mentioned this to my brother the other day ... he thought the US Army had binned the public side to this, closing near all the servers ...
Is this still being supported the way it was or at a reduced size?

I don't think so Smutty, I think it was the move to AA3 that made them shut down the official AA2 servers. Incidentally, they based AA3 on the Unreal engine (can't remember which) instead of developing or extending their own. This probably saved TONS in development time and money. The current problems are based on the authentication process, you can't fawking log into the website or the game.

Finally got things sorted out on this game.
1. Your AA2 account doesn't work (even if they say it got transferred).
2. If you aren't logged in, any training you pass won't be valid. Basically, there were no goals, and since there were no goals, you couldn't pass, even if you qualified for Expert.
3. They kept Pipeline, so Glad's favorite map is still available. I played two rounds, got killed once and didn't bother to get inside the building on the second round.
4. The authentication issues are better, but not completely sorted out.
There were 160 servers when I looked, and it took a while to get the details from all of them (a little over a minute). The official servers are there, I think, so you can probably go online and start playing.
Anyhow, I need to find a nice n00b server to try and get used to the game.

It might not completely suck, but if it gives the sheep a break from Glad, it can't be all that bad.

If it gives Glad a break from WOW it will have done it's job ... if that happens then it doesn't suck at all :P
it wont for long, think they were better off sticking to aa2

Never play that one but the qualifying was either way easier than the first or my hands have gotten alot steadier since high school
my training was done when i put in my prior aa2 details so i already have an expert/marksman on my rifle, all i did was the assault course!
