i stopped about '98, had alot of stuff from beta onwards. gave them away to someone who sold them a year later :( gits!!!!

I used to play regularly with world no1 :) and uk no1 and even got quite good at the game - winning a few tournies. It is an absolute killer for your wallet and time though :( not a good thng to be doing while at university.... and then they started doign expansions every 4 months which was the last straw. Its only the very top few percent that can actually get by on prize money.

My favourite deck for standard rules upto Mirage was a Green Trample deck with Yavimaya ants/bounty of the hunt/etc.

y did you guys all stop? I'm still playing it and my collection just broke the 2000 barrier a month ago. I enjoy playing with my white green mass destruction deck.

Although I have never playing battlegrouns, I heard that it was a terrible game.

For all of you who stopped playing and are thinking about starting be prepared for alot of rule changes. I stopped playing in 97 and started again last year and I still am trying to deal with all the new rules. There are some really cool new cards out though.

yeah there are some cool cards out but there a some extremely cheap ones too. One is Platnuim Angel and another is darksteel forge. The angel pretty much says you can't lose and your opponent can't win. The forge says you artifacts can't die.

Yea I used to play it as well, and owned hard :)

I had many decks depending on what the other guy used. I think my Black evil and red fire were more fun.

Loogie, bring on your trample deck, and i'll get my terror (tap 2 destroy any non-black creature) deck ready :P

As for the game now, well imo it sucks. After 4th and 5th generation, they started mixing colors around, e.g. a creature who needs blue and green mana, and then they added more stupid cards, and basically ruined the game.
