I think all the waiting has gotten to the MW:LL developers, as now they're doing weekly updates. Either that, or they're following the PoE:2 type of development and shifting into the next gear to get over the current things they are working on. HOWEVER here is a little update that will make some of you do the "Moocher theme song:"

The second week of April of 2009 is over and so it's already time for the second weekly update. A number of interesting things have been going on this past week. Among other things, joystick support is making excellent progress, 64 buttons for 32-bit operating systems and 128 buttons for 64-bit operating systems are basically confirmed. This should be great news not only for those lucky owners of Steel Battallion controllers among you. Now let's see what else this past week had to offer.

64 fawking buttons on a joystick? FAWK ME SWINGING!

Lil Theif use to act as my spotter on BF2142 before it was decide that maybe him egging on Daddy to shoot the Red guy wasn't such a good thing for someone his age.

He still likes to take over my mechwarrior game when I decide to make a run to the fridge for a beer.

Right now they are in the polishing phase. What does this mean?

The most grueling part of modding has come to MW:LL, Texturing and skinning. Druid, did you do skinning AND texturing or just skinning? I know that skinning is one of the more demanding parts, but texturing is more boring than some care to admit. Wanna see?

Note all the little bumps and things like a more defined cockpit. Now before Cresty and HotRod say "JUST GIVE US THE MECHS DAMNIT!" let me point out that one of the biggest advantages to the Crysis engine is the fact that you CAN get very detailed about the mechs so they look absolutely beautiful.

Now Just because we've been used to blocky mechs with low to medium definition doesn't mean that anyone else will be OK with the same thing. Most PC gamers these days need the BLING factor, which is what the Crysis engine will give us MechHeads. BLING means more players and full servers. The kind of BLING MW:LL plans to give the masses will be an astronomical upgrade from MW4.

Unfortunately, BLING takes time. It's my fervent hope that since the shift is from new mechs and features to polishing up the existing mechs and bug fixing that we are closer to a release date than the developers are letting on, but that could just be me being optomistic.

Bling is a good thing (especially since I run at 1920x1080 resolution now lol), as long as it doesn't detract from the game.
