New PC new probs

Ok got the new PC setting everything up, its all going good. When suddenly after installing the first mech pack (the Inner Sphere one Microsuck put out) now Mech won't work (screen goes black like usual with the screen shift then comes right back with nothing running). Any ideas?

If you are following the Instal guide thenall I can say is to not be on the internet when installing and deactivate any anti-virus software during the instal process ...

... oh did I mention just uninstalling (including deleting any Mech folders created so far) ... and start again?


... if that doesn't work then the resident Mechy installation doctor Druid will prob have a few words ...

Are you running Vista?

If so, which version....?

Mech does not work with the packs with 64 bit versions because CDilla does not load correctly and in most cases not at all.

Additionally, could be Vid dirvers. I know in BF If I run the latest driver my game goes boom. Older version works with no probs whatsovever.

It can be a million things....

So what operating system.....

Wait 5 minutes. Go grab a beer and a sandwich, look for a lost game CD for a while. You might see the silly Mech EULA screen or the graphics selection screen. I forget which comes first. It seems that the faster your computer is, the longer you have to wait for that damn thing to appear. I think it's a "Feature" from Microsoft.

64-bit Vista Home Premium

It works fine until I patch the damn thing. Then when I try to start it instead of giving me the next EULA it starts the screen switches over then boom nothing it goes back to the desktop.

Ok I got everything installed and working fine except the Clan and IS mech paks (installed in regular program files instead of X86 version). When I try to install them it tells me to install Vengence. Copied mercs to the X86 program files it installed, but did the same thing as before with not loading. copied the whole folder to regular program files still didn't work. Any ideas? Is there posibly a way to make the clan and IS mech pack look at the regular program files instead of the X86 one?

Uninstall the clan and IS mech packs, they wont work on vista x64 and will cause the error you described.

Im running vista x64 and have issues apart from the IS and clan packs

u will never get them to work as safecast is not compatible

The secret with any version of vista is to always install as admin then once installed right click on the icon and and set it to run in compatibility mode as XP and run as admin
