Well open Beta is up for this game atm. You can preorder the game and get a beta key, or you can find a site that offers beta keys.
This game is amazing graphically wise and gameplay wise. There is so much intense fun in this game and its only a beta with 3 maps available. I am seriously suggesting that any one who plays RTSes at all should give this a go.
Due to the no base structures and the nonexistent resource economy of this game, the action begins swiftly and doesn't end until the enemy gets completely pushed off the map. Not only that, but due to the design of the game, a player or players in the losing position will never be discouraged to leave. It has a very interesting design, more like an FPS with RTS game mechanics. In addition team work is required , so it it a perfect game for a clan.
Russia is battling American forces, yada yada. The cold war did end, but rather it ended with a full scale war. Lots of nukes. Thats the basic gist of it.

DX 9, although I was debating on reinstalling vista to try Dx10 out.
I am the wrong person to ask about performance, as I royally got screwed over on my laptop that is constantly overheating (even with some heat fans installed) on anygame I play besides hearts or solitaire. I should be able to play this on full graphics or almost full, but end up playing it on very low (which still looks damn good I must say). Watch out for dell laptops, their batteries, and and their CPUS with nonexistent decent cooling.
I don't quite understand this question, but I can tell you that pre-ordered beta keys will give access to one additional map during beta that others do not have.
Hehe, nope. I downloaded the beta from 5 am till around 10 pm a week or two ago when it first came out on torrent.
One thing I absolutely love about this game is artillery seems to be done better than any other game I have ever played. Artillery actually has range and acts as a suppressant and it deters movement through certain passages if the passage is being bombarded. Best thing though, you get full control of this awesome artillery where in other games it was a timed ability only used every roughly 15 minutes.

Ive looked at the website and i just find these 'in game' screenshots and vidoes so bloody annoying.
yes it has lots of eye candy but then so do all games lately, before i would waste my time down loading it i would want more info on the actual game play
Fear can u do some screenshots of the proper game, as a player would see it

I'll look you up ingame Spring :D.
Btw Druid I am having troubles getting pictures, the pictures I took came in .tga format, so I need a program for format conversions. However I can tell you all those pictures are not out of the possibility where a player can see, if they decide to place their camera practically on the ground (which I wouldn't). One other thing, the jets are extremely fast, so you would be lucky to be able to zoom in onto the jet. Besides that the first picture and second picture look very much like actual gameplay.
In the first picture you see red flares signaling artillery strikes, which apparently already arrived :D. Then a mix of tanks and infantry are rushing in with choppers going in from above. This is pretty damn close to a real game situation, just from an uncommon picture angle.
About gameplay. There are a couple of options in beta, but the main gametype involves a max of 16 peeps, and surprisingly an average of 16 players in one game on a smallish/medium size map. Each player receives so many points to call in for reinforcements. Typically, this results in about 3-15 units per player depending on if you choose a light, medium, or heavy unit. Now there are 4 roles from which one can choose from. Infantry, Armor, air, and support. Infantry have the ability to get lost in forests, and garrison buildings. Support can provide repairs, demolition, artillery, or the best anti-air. The goal is to conquer commander points around the map and keep them under your control. Team work is vital since one person does not receive enough units alone to cover all of his tracks.
If your units die, you get your points back from calling in these units. So therefore you can call in more units. The more units one kills the more TA points on will receive, and you can use this to call in anything from anti air strikes, carpet bombing, fuelair bombs, napalm strikes, extra artillery bombardment, to of course even nukes.
I'll try to get some screenies up soon.

Looks in the previous directories in my photobucket album for more screenshots.
this is a quick game I got into with about 8 people, 4 per team. No where near as much action as there would be in a normal game, but it shows how the game works.
checkin the demo out... but if its all it says it is, i'll buy when its out!

I'm desperately looking for a game to replace HW2. So far I've looked into SoaSE (apparently too long), SupCom (nah) and EVE. I wanna try this game, but I was wondering if anyone would be able to help walk me thru it

I will download the demo tonight if my RAM comes in. Sounds pretty coolio, and I have always had a special place in my heart for RTS.
