OMG!!! I saw Transformers last night and I was blown away. It was worth my hard earned money and more. Not only is this movie hardcore blowing crap up, but it has comic relief in it too. The movie was kinda all over the place plot wise, but it was still so freaking cool. I am going back to see it again this weekend. I don't know if I would take a smaller child to see this, but it might be alright.

I take it you don't want to know the spoiler about how Megatron has his way with the girl then kills her and puts her back together as a space-vampire bio-bot and in the final scene the boy pleads to her inner soul to stop vaporizing cities and be his girl again, at which point the picks up Megatron at throws him so hard he lands in the sequel.

I enjoyed it, was never into the cartoon but the film was very impressive.

FX is awesome, biggest critism is that the fight sences are way to frantic, there is no time to really marvel at the incredible CGI

Just got home from the movie, it rocks, animation looked real, the story line worked.

I agree, I was expecting it to be really really cheesy. It actually held a decent plot and the effects where outstanding.

I was very impressed with the acting..I expected this to be B-movie rated acting. And Druid, you are correct. The fight scenes were way too fast. except for Ironhide doing his Matrix impressions lol.

So this thread is old now... so what I haven't been able to read any posts lol. I thought the movie rocked, and after noticing how close the voice of Optimus was to the original I looked it up, and as it turns out it's the same voice actor. And Hugo Weaving was the voice of Megatron, AKA Agent Smith and V.

Yea, I noticed the same voice actor on Optimus right from the start. The other thing that kinda annoyed me until almost the end was seeing an actual face on Optimus. Then during the fight scene with Megatron, I see his face shield retract and I thought "OK, we're good, nothing annoying anymore."

And for those who are going to be asking: YES, there will be a sequel.

As much money this movie is making, you know Bay is going to do the sequel. And I knew Peter Cullen was going to be the voice of Prime...And you people call yourselves nerds. Pfft. :D

I've got to agree with Scott Ramsoomair over at VG cats (www.vgcats.com).
Read his short "rant" after looking at the comic.

(Possible spoilers, barely)

I totally agree and disagree with his rant. I agree with it that there should have been more of the transformers in the movie, but the movie far from sucked. I also understand why they didn't make the whole movie 24/7 transformers in your face. That would cost them too much money to do. Maybe on the next one they will have more interaction with the transformers. There is no perfect movie that was made from a cartoon. TMNT is a joke. I am sorry. The only one I liked was the orginal made in the early 90's. And guess what, it wasn't turtles in your face non stop. You have to have some sort of plot line in a movie. There was one in Transformers all be it a small one lol.

I just think they could make a great mech movie with this CGI now, still we live in hope

Well, WETA's been involved to make a live action movie of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion for a long time now, and that has mechs in it. Albeit with a really wacked out story.
