XP Prof

hmmm I have a copy of XP Prof but it was tailored for a laptop, Compque or however it is spell. Should I take the risk and try installing it the Desktop?

If it's a "recovery" type operating system disk that is proprietary to the laptop it accompanied, I wouldn't. Compaq is notorius for including layers of "specialized" drivers etc.

Go to newegg.com and buy the OEM version for half the price of the box in stores. That is what I did. :)
