I haven't really played FPS multiplayer games hardcore since uh... well since Doom. Just noticed recently that I pretty much get my butt handed to me in CoD2 in most environments. But man... get me inside of a building or an environment with a lot of cover... my life expectancy goes way up and people start dying... a lot. Then it struck me, running around corridors is pretty much like Doom. So what am I doing so wrong when I step out into the open. I try to hug as many walls as I can and look around a lot and yet I'm still constantly getting sideswiped and backstabbed. That and some of these kids can spot me from insane distances. Maybe they're the ones with widescreen 1080i hi def TVs but it's still kind of embarrassing.
I am getting better. I usually get more kills than deaths nowadays unless I'm up against a particularly experienced crew that plays as a team but I'd like to be that guy who gets 25 kills and 3 deaths.

Lol just practise and learn every single road/corridor/open space in the level learn every place you can go to and how you can get cover and shoot or where could you be shot from etc. And also i'm sick at teh Halo games cos really i just did alot and i mean alot of single play on Legendary (hardest setting). And sometimes with my bro so therefore i've been able to pwnage when i play MP. Also in Halo 1 i've done every level on every difficulty except for the 2nd mish on Heroic (hard) and the 3rd on Legendary, and theres 15 levels :D
So really sometimes playing on signle player on the hardest settings usually tend to make ya better cos you learn to take cover alot and to find places where you can't be shot from. Also just playing MP alot till you get better.

There is always alot more ways to die in the open than inside a biulding. Just too many places for a bad guy to hide.
If you are not gonna snipe it out, my suggest is find a buddy to tag along with that way there is an extra set of eyes looking about. Also if your partner gets tagged first you know there is someone out there

That's why BF2 has squads. You can join a squad as a medic and sit back and revive/heal the cannon fodder. :D
