Still no PC gaming rig, but I got an Xbox 360 and DSL up and running on Tuesday. :)
Reviews are really mixed. Some are saying it's way too slow while others think it's the best thing since mechwarrior.
They all seem to agree that the multiplayer component is cool and that the environments look like crap.
Anbody out there playing Call of Duty 2 on xbox?

i tried the demo at my friends house and yes the mechs are very slow the enviroments are a bit basic just some hilly planes with the odd tree and the explosion effects and total bullshit very like basic but apart from that its an ok game. But doesn't beat MW.

If they have an Armored Core level of customization (same company - more anime mech style action - From Software), it could be interesting. The multiplayer is supposed to feature persistent wars going on between countries. Everybody picks a side and fights until a war is won and the server resets. I guess you can pretty much pick and choose your objectives. I might just have to pick it up. I can't play Oblivion and CoD2 forever. Well... maybe Oblivion.

There is a large number of people in my clan that play Chromehounds. The initial complaints prior to playing were similar to above...weak explosions and poor environments. However, they have fallen in love with the continual war type gameplay and are having a blast earning experience and spending their rewards on upgraded weapons. The Mechs are extremely customizable and they are getting into it with a fury!
The continual war have them thinking about hooking up with a clan from the European Union. As they see it, if you can start an assault in EU time, they can mop it up or at least provide continual pressure until one of them succeeds! I wish I had a 360 to get involved in this. Sounds pretty fun...weaknesses aside. Really, that's all we want...to have fun. If that is happening, I could care less about weak explosions. The important thing is that I caused that weak explosion!

Sounds pretty cool to me. Is the action as simplistic as they're saying it is or is the key to multi more about teamwork than gunnery skills?

i haven't played it myeself but it sounds like teamwork is key. The specialization of mechs including scouts, heavy/long range mechs and soliders make mixing you styles important depending on the mission or area being attacked.

No idea about any demo, they all play the real game. It was released on July 12.
