For any of you that ever enjoyed 4X games like Master of Orion, this one is worth keeping an eye on. Hands on previews have sounded very positive and I think it's out on the 20th or 21st. This is the one that's going to be tiding me over 'til SOASE comes out.

Well, that and X-Com, but there's ALWAYS X-Com

I played Galactic Civ 2 for OS/2. I'm hoping that the Winblows version is a bit more modern.

Is Stardock still producing the game or did they get another publisher?

OMG - I haven't seen anyone use "OS/2" in a sentence in YEARS !! I still have a IBM PS/2 Model 70 running Warp if you can believe that. I also published a game for OS/2 called "Solar Conquest" you can find on most any OS/2 site that hosts game downloads like this (http://www.os2world.com/games/html/solar_conquest.html) one and it was published in a copy of CD collections.

Hi, my name is Moocher and I'm a recovering OS/2 user. Sure I can blame my dad (an IBM retiree) for providing me with OS/2 for almost next to nothing, but the real blame falls on my shoulders alone. Every day I have to fight the urge to dig into my boxes of old computer junk and pull out the installation CD and diskettes. When it's just me and those lonely boxes, I thank God I had the foresight to take the diskette drive out of my computer.

I actually had a lot of fun playing both Galactic Civ and MoO, and still play MoO if I'm wanting to waste a weekend micro managing planets.

LOL - yeah all, what was it, like 14 3.5" diskettes

what a kewl OS that was, way ahead of its time for the Intel platform ... starting using it with v1.1 before PM was even around and I was actually part of the OS/2 2.0 Beta and got a free trip to the Indy 500 that year on IBM's tab in recognision of my work. Got to go around the track at 100+ in a Pace car driven by one of the racers .. it was a BLAST !!

I did beta testing for OS/2 Warp Server for eBuisness, and found it to be very similar to some of the Linux setups. My only beef (ever) was with the file permissions management, but then I have the same beef with Linux too. LVM and a JFS were very nice, and it actually performed decently on a Pentium 133 with 64 MB of RAM.

After almost all the good utilities started either using the EMX libraries or required them because of being a direct port from Linux, I decided to just switch to Linux. I miss the PM, KDE is the most like it, but it trades some of the object orientation for other features like multiple desktops that I can't live without these days.

Did you ever get your game hosted on Hobbes? :D
