Anybody ever play X-Com: Apocalypse?

It just became abandonware a few months back and you can find it on Abandonia.com. Writing a massive guide on it as a test and something to work around for developing the new site. I know it's old, but I just happened to be playing it and it was fresh on my mind. Also a game that's easy to do a great deal of strategy work on. If any of you have played it, I'd love to have someone give me an impression of how thorough the guide is when I'm done in a week or two. I'd like it to be a model for more up to date guides.

Yes i played it about 6/7 years ago.

I was a big fan of the X-Com games and used to have X-Com: Enemy Unknown, X-Com: Terror from the Deep and X-Com: Apocalypse.

Just out of curiosity, did you play turn based or RTS? I've mucked around with RTS style and I just don't get why you would want to play it that way. Yet so many seem to prefer it over at the abandonware site. That's one of my issues. I don't really want to play RTS style, but I really ought to if I'm going to write a comprehensive guide.

I STILL play the original on my PlayStation occasionally. Much better game in a lot of ways, but I've really played it into the grave so the sequel is always fun to muck around with.

I played it RTS, i liked the way u could see all the action instead of the aliens movement in darkness as it is in turnbased.

Although if the original had been RTS then it would have lost the atmosphere of the game and i dont think it would have worked so well.

Yeah, if I ever put that one out seriously, I'll have to get over my own bias and provide for it I guess. I just don't see the fun. X-Com is all about peekaboo tactics, IMO.

well ive downloaded X-Com apoc from abandonware and started playing it once again.

Lets see if its as adictive as it was all those years ago :P

I played it as Turned Based 7 years back. Im playing UFO Aftermath and thats got a pretty good RTS style.
