I'm curious about it. I loved Sea Dogs, even if the AI was a dumbass and you could kill crew by running away and spraying their hull with grapeshot with year dippy aft cannons.

Very curious about this game. I have never played a mmorg strategy game before and this ones looks like it would be fun.

Was thinking of creating a French adventurer guild called, "Le Poulet", lol....I would be Monsiuer Yin Yang Poulet, La Capitaine of "Le Poulet Doree" (the Golden Chiken)

I got hooked on naval games as a kid when Avalon Hill put our the Wooden Ships & Iron Men (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/237) board game and then on TaskForce: 1942 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/task-force-1942) after PC's hit the scene.

I've shopped for more recent naval games, but nothing has really sparked my interest. This one looks pretty kewl.

If you guys dig that stuff, I recommend reading up on the history of the age of sail. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. It's really cool stuff.

Pirate has been talking about this game since we hooked up in Eve. He has said many times that when this game hits, he is done w/ Eve.

Get out the eye patches and how to sail manuals, cause it looks like POTBS will be released in March!! Anyone interested in taking to the high seas as "Le Poulet" (the Chikens) let me know!! We'll start practicing drinking rum and saying "arrrr" alot!! or Bawkarrr!!

I've been thinking, ( I know, I know, lol), maybe for POTBS we should be a Pirate Guild and just call ourselves the Chikens, and align ourselves with the French, English or Spanish.....what you guys think?

when they were testing out game mechanics they did it on chicken models in game. they had to give the chickens a faction, so they gave them dutch. the chickens were dutch:)

well looks like they narrowed the choices down, you can pick from France, Spain, England, Pirate or Adventurer.

Damn, this could become vaporware......just noticed on the boards that their best guess release date will be Summer 2006. Well so is Disney's Pirates of the Carribean (release of movie June 2006, game July 2006). My guess is either Disney buys the game from Flying Labs or they will be buried. Although they do have a huge pre-fan base.....we will see.

Well some news from the pirate front!! Looks like PotBS is still scheduled for release in Q2 2006. It is in a very closed beta right now with no news forthcoming from the devs on how its going. I would be very surprised if this game is released by Q4 2006.


update>> well some good news, looks like the game is in the late stages of closed beta...new devs were hired and the whole problem with the player resource management issue looks like it has finally been resolved, sooo could be out in Q3!!
