what other RTS games is there besides hw2? Generals is just not holding on to my attention like i thought it would. Probably cause all the stoopid kids that play the game and that 9 games out of 10, all of them mismatch or somebody gets pissed and leaves.
Why i hate this game!
1) I spent a lot of money
2) You must have a super computer to play the game on high or even medium settings.
3) people don't realize that they need a super computer so they don't lower the graphics settings
4) Host can't even boot a player, WTF!
5) takes like 6 hours to find a decent game
6) if you get into a game, it disconnects on you
7) if it doesn't disconnect it mismatches. wTF two ways for it to fail OMG!!@#!@
8) i spent ALOT OF MONEY!
9) slow lag filled games
10) most people can't follow rules
Sorry, but i had to vent.

Welcome to the group of dissatisfied customers. They did have a very very tight copy protection going on tho, it actulay took a few thousend misreads in half an hour of installation for CD two alone.
And as a developer and working in IT for a living, I learned one thing...a golden rule if you will. If a company is very much concerned with source security, quality always suffers and consequently many things will go wrong while being disproportionaly expensive overall.
Copy protection is bad.....evil and only distracts, while in the end it falters anyway. These things are sadly being decided upon by clueless buisiness people with very short term memorries and a scope of mind not reaching further then their own pocket.
Simple as that!
Just had to vent as well :)

Whenever I get upset about HW2 I just think about CCGenerals and I feel all warm inside. Crap Crap Crap. And yes it was pricey, thank God I got it on Ebay for about half price and got the same for it when I sold it.
Fanatic, that is very interesting about the copy protection. I guess it is logical, but I never thought that so much care taken in copyright protection would effect a game in such a negative way.

If you like the Empire Earth RTS type games, the ones that try to throw in a bit of history with gameplay, you might like Rise of Nations, though it is not very different from games like Empire Earth, or I hear Age Of Kings.
There is an interesting mode called "Conquer the World" where you are given a start point associated with your Civ on a board similar to a Risk board. Its turned based and each territory has its own scenario on a map that matches the region.
Problem though is the CTW map is too small with too few territories and too few turns to have a really fun game. I like Civ3 so I don't mind spending 20 hours on a game I am really into.
Maybe worth a look if you find it cheap, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it if you can help it.
