Well it has begun .... I am going back to my youth .... fast bikes, rum ... and I will have to ask the wife if she wants to be my bad woman .. *sigh ...

anyhow where was I ........

Here is the beginning of my Mid-Life-Crisis .... I got it on E-bay for $5,200AU .... = $3,950US ... = 2,290 Pd ....

It is a 1997 Yamaha YZF1000 .... 35,000klm on the clock, came with tank bra, rack, gear sack and bike cover.

It is said to be capable of 300+ kph ..... :drunk:

So have I Druid ... just that a $9,000 bike for only $5,200 was too big a 'buy me please' .... I will eventually trade the 'Plastic Fantastic' for the bike I really want ...

a new Triumph Speedmaster ...

and what a way to celebrate my 600th post and the eve of my 1st Chiken Bawkday ...... :dancing:

Smutty, you got a 1000cc motorbike?

Was nice knowin yah!

The funny thing about midlife crisis is that the desire for horsepower is in inverse proportion of the ability to control said horsepower :P

and the same could be said regarding the desire for younger females. lol

I was looking for a pic of my bike but I guess I never took one O_o. I'm too young to be forgetting those kinds of important details. BUT anyways....

As a fellow crotch-rocketeer let me say awesome grab on the bike! (I got a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 600) Body looks in excellent condition and all those extras were nice for the price.

BUT! I'll be the prudent one so here comes my safety tips for the day! (*hears the cackles* I work with bombs that make big booms so YES I am very safety orientated, now shove it and let me continue.) 1000cc is a big ol' bike, PLEASE tell me you've riden before or AT LEAST will get some form of standardized training before you get on that beast. It'll knock your socks off. Also, for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, get on that bike without your leathers. Oh dear god PLEASE if you do ONE thing this year for someone else but more importantly yourself, PLEASE don't do it. Not even down the street. I've been involved in 3 accidents on my bike, 2 of which WEREN'T my fault at all, and they all met the standard profile of close to home, was only driving to the store for a minute, blah blah blah. I was wearing my leathers and got saved MUCH pain as one of them occured on the dirt road to my house. Jacket got messed up from that one pretty bad but I just thank god it wasn't my skin!

I hope you take these to heart, ride safe, ENJOY your bike cuz that's why it's there =)

OK Dad here is my history

I started riding bikes in 1975 ... I have owned (in no particular order)

Suzuki 380cc triple (two stroke)
Honda 500-4
Suzuki GS750
Honda 750-4
Kawasaki Z900
Triumph 500 Speed Twin 1959 model
Yamaha 1000 Midnight Special
Harley Davidson 1200cc (actually a sportster with 1200 barrels)

and now a Yamaha YZF1000 .... all up I have had about 12 years riding. With the fact that Aussieland is such a large place long distances are common place. We used to ride to a pub at the coast for a drink and ride home ... a round trip of about 400k. I went to see a mate of mine in hospital one week end ... a round trip of 2200k in 2.5 days.

I acknowledge it has been a while and bike have changed a fair bit since I stopped riding but not only do they go faster but they have way better handling and brakes so some things equal out.

I have joined a bike club called the Ulysses (biggest bike group in Aussieland ... 1000's of members) ... you have to be 40 to be an associate member and 50 to be a full member. I am back riding with a mate of mine from the early days .. he rides a Haybusa Suzuki so he will be a good coach.

So thank you for your concerns .... however I will endeavour to remain upright ...well at least have the rubber bits touching the road .....

Smutty

PS today is my CHIKEN BAWKDAY!!!!! I am a one year old Chiken .... WOO HOO :band: :dancing: :drunk:

I thought u were into motorcycles not farm machinary?
:P

Nice bikes listed there mate

I started motorcycling in '76 and there have been too many bikes to actually list (and remember lol)

But the Highlights were:

Kawa 500 H1 (triple)
Triumph T110 Tiger 650
Kawa z650 (many diff versions)
Yam XS1100
Kawa z1000
Kawa ZEPHYR 1100

Never owned a big Suzi, although i love the GS range and ive only had Hondas for run arounds, never anything serious.

Doubt if ill ever ride a bike again, but i will always have Castrol R in my blood.

:D

Nice bike!

I went from a V-4 Interceptor to a HD Custom...big mistake. I sold the HD a few years ago and have been eyeing the Suzuki Hayabusa (ok, drooling is more like it). Hopefully I'll get one soon, summer's here.

Thats really enterprising Lone, using the bike for leisure on the weekend and hiring it out the local farmers co-op during the week.

Never thought of u as a community spirited Hells Angel before :P

Naw, what I have to hide is my wife's Honda 250 Rebel. Talk about shame seeing that mini bike in my garage.
