I know that it may not concern you at all, but here's the story. Polish online gaming communities are nowhere as big as other countries, due to poor internet infrastructure and general lack of money in my country. Therefore, we are a bit closer to each other... Recently I had found a page made by Unreal Tournament community, with an info, that one of its members, a girl, have very ill kid (brain damage due to doctors mistake during her birth - and no, here's no chance to sue him). Its cureable, I believe, but its costly. She were NOT looking for help, it all started because her gaming friends started an action of getting her some money. Currently, RtCW, UT, ET, CS polish scenes are involved. I was thinking, is it possible for us to help somehow? Either by sending her some spare money (well, most polish guys could afford around 10 PLN per person, which is around 2 USD - so few not because they do not want to help, but because we are, well, poor), or maybe making hw2 or mw4 tournament with prizes... prizes, which can be donated to her by winners, for example. Or, maybe someone have some contacts in US healthcare system, which could offer her a discount, for example, for a cure method she want to order for her kid? Contacts in airlines (she need to get to US somehow too, and discount in trip costs could help a lot also, I guess). I dunno, if you find idea of helping total stranger, from totally awkward country appealing. I know I wouldnt. I just couldnt stop myself from writing all this.
BTW., you have my word that its NOT a hoax (or whatever its called, you may read whole lot about it on various boards, and too many people know her personally).
BTW., her page (in polish, unfortunatelly)
