Now here is an interesting game. Its an RTS with a twist for solo play. The Conquer the World mode combines RTS with a "Risk" style world map where 13 distinct tribes compete for global domination.

I traded in a bunch of my games and was able to pick this up. Verdict....Empire Earth all over again. Almost exactly the same. And the CTW mode is kind of crap. There are a limited number of turns available, the AI is very very dumb, and its a risk map, so even when you are advanced to the information age, the only way to get from South America is to hop the Atlantic into Africa.

If you like History based RTS you might like this, but I don't think this is more fun than Civilization 3 but that is turnbased in depth and can be damn hard.

It looks decent, and its been out for a while and there is a demo.

Its more like Civ in a werry "lite" version with C&C in it too, but I do agree that the reserch is like EE.

Yeah i am a very very old player of the Civ series also got this on a whim purly on the link to Civ when it came out, and i have to say i have played it like 3 times there just no depth to it at all, and yes the AI is about as smart as a drunk G.W.Bush, it never reacts to what you build and does a sort of structured build up, it also does not counter attack very often. Baaaah its just a big pile of steamy shyt, it looks good but is basically the same game as Age of empires, but with a bit of the fun removed. I mean i find it hard call the map area a "risk like" structure to it as that only dictates the city, and units you start out with and they are not even very representative of the force you want to send over. Basically this is a sack of pooooooooooooooooooooooh, thats in a pretty bag. I do not think anyone who has played any of the Civs will like this, I was very very disappointed, can not even trade it off as my gf bought it for me for me B'day so it just sits there, doing nothing. Bit after the fact this though lol by about a year of so lol.

I don't either. My cousin plays these games and I must say that I could never excel at something so time consuming.

So Glad I didn't get this game!
I nearly got it before COH came out. I kept seeing ads in magazines and it looked pretty cool. Never got to see a review though. Kudo's to Guerilla for the update.
I have and LOVED Empire Earth. I was in a clan in that game too, before returning to Chiken to go full throtle with Mechy. (no, I was NOT dual clanning, nor was I in it for very long...At that time, there were NO other chikens playing it, and I wasn't involved with nor did I have the authority to "procreate" our clan in EE, so I didn't. Knowing what I do now about it, I would have migrated my Chikenness there as well.)
Anyway, Sorry to see that you traded in all those games to get ripped by Rise of Nations G..
Hope HW2 wasn't one of the ones you traded in?
Try City of Heroes man, I'm still having fun with it, and after level 10 it really becomes a Challenge. Imagine being your own Super Hero, and in a FPS/MMORPG at the same time. YOu can play from 3rd person perspective, or like in DOOM or Duke Nuke'em, a First Person Perspective. Camera angles are easily rotated, and you can select your powers from a list according to level to customize the crap out'a yer Hero's abilities. You can also customize the crap out'a your Hero, and the Hero's costume/outfit/attire. It's pretty sweet. I takes me about 1-2 hours to create a new hero, and that is part of the fun as well. I LOVE IT!
TTYL,
BAWK!
