Yep its now fact. Due for a 2006 release and best news of all the crack pipe head Anderson wont be directing it :elephant:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419706/

Bad news is it looks like a pg13 rating? Hopefully that will change as I cant see them getting the same sort of feel the game had otherwise

ID get the figerout and demand an R rating. If all else it will keep the kids out the the cinema.

Even after the film rights change to Universal Studios, Irish man, Enda McCallion, is to still direct the Doom film as his first feature length film. It’s to be produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and John Wells.

McCallion shot his first film aged 16, and went on to study film at the Royal College of Art in London. He has worked on advertisements for Guinness owners Diago, and the band Nine Inch Nails.

Early last week the film studio Warner Brothers lost the rights to the Doom film, at the time the games developer ‘id’ were denying a deal with Universal Studios, although the film trade publications the Hollywood Reporter, and Variety were saying other wise.

Variety has also reported the film is an adaptation of the upcoming PC and Xbox game Doom 3. The script is apparently written by Dave Callaham.

Set on a Mars space station, the sci-fi horror first person shooter (FPS) game is currently without a firm release date, although some have it pencilled in for a July 14 release.

Seems they have the rock to star in it.

Yeah it was but Fox never did anything. Ie they bought the rights to it but never decided what to do. Where as now its been sold to universal and thay are fast tracking it for 2006. Looks the ticket to be fair. Though with the rock wanting to star in it might guarantee a pg13 rating which for a horror movie might not work. I will still watch it aka aliens v predator and more than likly bitch about it if its bad :bang:

Though the writer is unproven and writing an advert for guinnes is a lot different from a movie. Ive seen his adds and whist very origional and good I cant figure out if he has wrote a good script. Some 50 pages long and i cant see this movie being shorter than 3+ hours with that script. Again I will need to read over it again and make a judgment then but at the moment it seems faitfull to doom 3 in many ways. As allways its a draft so its gona change a lot before its released

Yeah, my first reaction is, THIS BETTER NOT SUCK LIKE AVP DID!

and THANK GOD Someone else uses IMDB.com YAY FOR YOU SIR! Kudos!

Ever think about joining the Fantasy Film League?

go to www.fantasyfilmleague.com it's free. it's fun, it's like Fantasy fooball with movies. No spam, no spyware, just a bunch of brits hosting a really cool, really simple easy to use site. I have 12 other friends in it. we all love it. We also are the ones choosing the Top 10 Movie Titles (funniest) for each season. That's how much we're into movies.
I must also say that I'm bummed taht they're trying to turn this into a movie. I also feel that, with the HUGE cost of movies today, they'll use unknown actors to save money, and then give us the PG-13 rating to fill seats and sell tickets for the theatrical release.
Wait, does this sound familliar?....Are you SURE Paul "Box office Kryptonite" Anderson isn't doing this film?....LOL..
You can read my review of AVP at www.imdb.com . My review is titled "Who cut off Andersons Nuts?..." I'm sure you'll like it. It's very lenghty, and very bashing on Anderson.
BAWK!

Oh yeah, from now on we have a saying, when a movie that was touted as "it's gonn'a be so good!" or "it's gonn'a Rock dude!" comes out bad, like AVP, we call it "they PG-13ed it"...nuf said.

Also, what makes a movie like this turn out bad, is the lack of substance and "why do we care about this hero?" If we don't care about the Hero, and they don't have enough meaninful content, then it's gonn'a suck, regardless of who's in the movie.

You could have a monster cast, and if it's ALL about blasting demons and such, and no story, no substance, no content, then it's like watching some one else play the game on a HUGE screen and you don't get to play... That sucks.
I like The Rock, (not the movie), and I'd like to see him make some films with substance. He's a bruiser, yes, but, lets give him a reason to BE the hero in a movie. No more of the quippy good guy killing every one any more, Arnold took care of that for us.
Lets not let The Rock be taken down by cheesey lines, and Clichee scenes timed prefectly when he takes down a bad guy in a PG-13 film. Oh yeah, and NO MORE of this Obligitory Matrix slowmotion camera rotation crap. Andy and Larry did that for us, made it work, did it perfectly, and impressed the shit out of us with it. Now it's almost a standard in many action films. They even did it in AVP, and didn't show the face huggers actually latching onto the faces when they did it. Which is Another reason why AVP sucked. But, don't get me started on that...lol
Lets hope for the best, and expect the worst. Start saving your movie money now, because by the time DOOM comes out in '06, it's gonn'a cost MORE than $9.00 (us) to see a movie. It's already 10 bucks for a movie in Manhattan, NYC. REDICULOUS!!!

HL?....what's that?... OH YEAH, that failure of a game called Halflife...pffff...who cares?....lol

Hey, guess what, I got a killer deal on the Source code for HL2, want it?...oh yeah, tha's right, every one already has IT!...DOH!...lol
Movies like that just don't have much substance other than shooting loads of bad guys....aaannnnnd, not much else.
PRAY that you don't pay to see those movies.

Me humms and ahhs at the idea of a DooM movie. Sure, if its done right it could be one very good (and shit-scary) movie, but history has shown that people have a certain knack for taking a good idea and turning it into a steaming pile of turd. :shit:

Its funny though, most the movies Anderson directed are crap-fests, but he did get one right. Anyone seen 'Event Horizon'? *shudder* that was a good sci-fi horror film.

Be safe, get James Cameron to do it. ):

Event Horizion was good because he didnt rewrite the script himself like he has done to everything else. He had no controll over that side of things on that movie. On his other movies its evident he had and has openly said he rewrote the scripts for Resident Evel 1 and he has stated he wrote A v P only to retract that statement when the film got major bad reviews. Still the good news is the damage has been done to his movie carrier, only Fox will now use him now.

As for a Half Life movie, I have heard nothing and I dont think it would make for a good movie myself. Great game and stroy for the game but ry getting that into a 2 or 3 hour film? Dont see how they could do it.
