I presently use a Cyborg EVO joystick. I have 16 things programmed into the buttons besides the normal throtttle, twist and looking off the hat switch. My twist is no working very good anymore and my #1 fore button sticks and wont work from time to time. IS there any way to clean these and make it work again or is it time to replace it. its about 10 months old.

MOUSE AND KEYS!!!!! :)

Seriously...

Cleaning at your own risk I guess, but if the stick is 10 months old is it still under warranty?

I used to clean the old digital microswitch sticks I used on my old amiga etc. They were pretty straight forward to clean - usually a case of cleaning the contacts on the micro switches which takes care of the button on your stick but I have no idea what the twist mechanism looks like but I imagine its 4 or so rubber bands or something, so probably just dirt build up preventing some movement.

Not really. There was a 30 day store warranty. After that, there's one if you send it back pre-postage paid plus insurance both ways. Then you'll only get the warranty to the original ones end. Take into account the time to ship it, get it fixed and get it back, the cost of shipping and insurance. I'd be out of the game for a good month and more then likely cost upwards of 20 dollars. I think this joystick runs about 40 dollars.

Maybe I'll see if a tech guy at work can fix it. Those guys have all kinds of eletronic parts and pieces and tidbits.

Thanks for the advice Loogie.
I looked online not 30 seconds ago. there was a picture of a twist joystick broken open. It looks pretty complicated. Some gear looking things attached to the control components. The handle looks like a whole separate device kind of supported above the other buttons and switches. A whole mess of wires and some lights.

Geez, if anyone understands that, let me know what I just said.

hehehe

dont take it apart,..any stick with a Z-Axis has a gear and a single coil spring, with wires leading from that, attaching to a logic board. IT WILL come apart, if you break open the stick, which will cause the Twist function to remain forever UN-Calibrated.

Just save yerself time and money and get a new one

Yeah, get a new one and open your old one then play about with it - worst comes you can always douse it in petrol and BURN it!!!!

the point here is that I don't have any want to open it up. I just wondered if it can be done. I shake my back side, a smile, a wink, and a gentle rub gets the guys at work to do alot of things for me.

Too bad no chiken guys take me up on that.
