This tutorial is for all you new FowL that want to get setup with Voice Comms
using the Chiken Confederations Teamspeak 2 Server.
First off you must download and install the Teamspeak 2 software that can
be found at http://www.goteamspeak.com/.
The final installation screen for the TS Client looks like this:

Once it is installed then you need to add the Chiken Confederation Server,
register your Nickname, and set your sound options. To accomplish this
use the steps outlined below to configure Teamspeak properly.
After you start Teamspeak you should see the following screen:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-2.jpg
Click on "Connection" in the Menu Bar and then select "Connect"
which will display the following screen:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-3.jpg
Make sure you are on the "Local Addressbook" tab and right-click on "Servers"
and select "Add Server". This will create an entry called "New Server" as shown
below:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-4.jpg
Change the name from "New Server" to "Chiken Confederation" and press
"Enter" to save the entry and display the screen as shown below. Fill in the
"Server Address" (voice.shylan.org:8768), and "Nickname" fields as indicated in the example below
but put in your own nickname. Make sure you have the Anonymous radio
button selected as shown:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-5.jpg
Click on "Connect" at the bottom of the window and you will be connected to
the Chiken Confederation Teamspeak 2 Server and should see this screen
similar to this one with a (U) next to your Nickname:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-6.jpg
You will next need to register your Nickname with the server by selecting
"Self" from the Menu Bar and then "Register With Server" which will display
the following window which you will need to fill in the "Login Name:" with
your Nickname, enter/re-enter your personal password, and click on the
"Register" button:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-7.jpg
Once you have registered your Nickname, update your connection information
by going back to the "Connection" -> "Connect" Menu option which
will display the following window. Change the "Anonymous" to "Registered"
and enter in your Nickname and password in the new fields as shown in the
example below:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-10.jpg
Click on "Connect" at the bottom of the window and you will be reconnected
to the Chiken Confederation Teamspeak 2 Server and should see a screen
similar to this one with a "(R)" next to your Nickname:
http://www.chikens.net/photoplog/images/8/medium/1_TS-Setup-8.jpg
Next you will need to configure the sound for your specific system and
microphone. Select "Settings" from the Menu Bar and click on the option
"Sound Input/Output" to display the sceen shown below. It is all personal
preference, but I happen to have a wheeled mouse and find using the
wheel button with "Push to Talk" as a good combination. Select the
"Push to Talk" and then click on "Set" followed by pressing the wheel
mouse button to set the Push to Talk key.

Finally you will need to adjust your Output Volume to be comforatable for
the rest of us. Not to loud as to hurt our ears, but not so soft you cant
be heard. This is best done with the help of another Teamspeak member
as everyone will have different sound cards, mics, etc. and getting the proper
levels will be difficult alone. Find another Chiken logged in to the Teamspeak
2 Server and join that channel by double clicking on the Channel Name.
Introduce yourself with a friendly "BawK" and ask them if your coming
through loud and clear. Use the Output Volume slider bar to adjust
your volume as necessary.
Once you have set everything up, it would be best to completely exit
out of Teamspeak and then try connecting to the server again to make
sure everything is working properly.
Once you have verified everything is configured and working as desired,
a small change to the Windows Desktop Shortcut can be made to have all
of the connection and login information that has just been setup automatically
passed to the Teamspeak Client program when double-clicked on. To accomplish
this, use the following procedure:
1.) Right-click on the Desktop Teamspeak Icon and select 'Properties'
2.) Change the "Target" to be the following:
"C:\Program Files\teamspeak2_RC2\TeamSpeak.exe" "voice.shylan.org:8768?nickname=NemesisChiken?login name=NemesisChiken?password=mypswd?channel=Lobby"
3.) Change the references for 'nickname', 'loginname', 'password', and 'channel'
to your information
4.) Click on the 'Apply' button
5.) Click on the 'OK' button
Double click with the left-mouse button to start the Teamspeak Client and have
it automatically use the information just entered in the "Target" field.
