The 2v2 team tourny is going ahead this Sunday in the Gamespy Expert Lobby at 8pm gmt/9pm central european time/12pm ladder time (ladder time is the same as Pacific Coastal Time) so grab your partners and sign up! Please come to the Expert Lobby about 30 mins before the tournament starts, so that we can get on and start on time.
To sign up you'll need to register an account on the ladder, although you do not need to participate in any of the ladders. Only 1 player from each 2 man team needs to sign up to the tournament, however when prompted to write the team name please write in BOTH players' names to avoid confusion (e.g. Cpt. Jim and Vicius are playing together, so Cpt. Jim signs up with the team name 'Cpt. Jim+Vicius').
You sign up in the 'tournaments' section of the ladder site here (http://www.homeworldladder.com/tourneypro/index.php) - just click on 'signup' next to the one that says '2v2 Tourny Feb 04'.
If all 4 players in a match agree to it, they're free to play on any map/settings they wish to. If the players can't agree, the map will be Kharams 4 players, with random start positions, standard resource multiplier, and 3k starting RUs. There are no specific 'rules' regarding the use of any ship types/tactics - if anyone has any questions on possible bugs, please bring them to my attention.
We should see some decent competition here, as there's some good 2v2 teams out there. However, this is intended to be fun - this isn't going to prove who the 'best' players in hw2 are, or even the best hw2 2v2 team on kharams, so let's keep it all in good spirits while we're killing each other.
Without replays in hw2, there is currently no way to adjudicate a game that crashes. As a result of this, i'm relying completely on people's good sportsmanship as far as declaring game results in the case of crashes/syncs etc. If a game crashes, either 1 team admits of their own good will that they lost, or the game will be replayed - I will not pay any attention to screenshots, game statistics, your respective characters or bribes (well...). I realise that a lot of people get quite passionate about this game sometimes, but if 2 teams insist on flaming each other excessively in public, i'll warn them then kick them both out.
gl hf everyone!
